National Trust for Scotland has partnered with The Open University and Skills Development Scotland to bring new structured learning opportunities across the organisation as part of its strategy to become a skills and learning-focused organisation.
In line with National Trust for Scotland’s commitment to encourage continuous lifelong learning within its organisation, the organisation has hosted a ‘Learning Skills and Careers Tour’ which took place at various Trust locations to highlight the improved range of learning opportunities available.
As part of the partnership, OU provision was mapped against the Trust’s job families, providing a tailored selection of courses to support staff in their careers. In addition, content was mapped against key skills areas such as leadership, communication, creativity and digital skills.
The collaboration between the OU and the Trust provides a wide variety of learning options for the Trust's staff, including free, bitesize courses on the OU's free learning site OpenLearn, to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) short courses, to credit-bearing microcredentials.
All of the OU’s learning is delivered online via distance learning, ensuring that National Trust for Scotland’s staff has equal access to development opportunities, no matter where they are based.
