In 2018 The Open University’s Centre for Voluntary Sector Leadership (CVSL) in partnership with MK Community Foundation and Community Action:MK, launched a pilot learning club.
This enabled leaders of voluntary sector organisations to engage with the CVSL courses online and in addition benefit from peer-learning through facilitated learning club sessions.
CVSL learning clubs have evolved over time and involved various organisations in England, Scotland, Europe and East and Central Africa.
Learning club sessions were initially held in person, but the Covid-19 restrictions led to a move to the virtual space. Technology has enabled learning clubs, whose membership is dispersed or have mobility and other challenging access issues, to emerge. Internationalisation of the learning clubs was one of the consequences of this.
This webinar brought together academics and practitioners to share their learning and give tips to other leaders and organisations considering starting leadership development learning clubs. A panel of speakers shared their thoughts and ideas and answered questions.
The webinar was hosted by Dr Fidèle Mutwarasibo, Lecturer in Work Based Learning and Dr Owain Smolovic-Jones, Co-author of the CVSL courses. The panel included Maddi Cassell, Genevieve Igboji and Rev Dr John Wesley Kabango and Rev Dr Ernest William Kadiv, participants in the Vereinte Evangelische Mission (VEM) - United Evangelical Mission’s learning club - 2020.
