Are you looking for fresh ideas for interdisciplinary research? Then the OU's Research & Academic Strategy Office and the Strategic Research Area in International Development and Inclusive Innovation have teamed up to launch Open IDEAS (International Development Engagement and Sharing), a programme of internal speed-networking events.
The one-to-one targeted discussions of just four minutes each will allow colleagues to explore synergies, mutual interests and opportunities and discover links to new partners. The events, introduced by IDII SRA Director Giles Mohan, will also offer participants the chance to learn more about funding opportunities under the Global Challenge Research Fund, and the range of support the OU can offer.
The events, limited to twenty people, are open to those with research interests in any of the following areas:
- Secure and resilient food systems – supported by sustainable agriculture
- Sustainable health and wellbeing
- Inclusive and equitable quality education
- Clean air, water and sanitation
- Renewable energy and materials
- Sustainable livelihoods supported by strong foundations for inclusive economic growth and innovation
- Resilience and action on short-term environmental shocks and long-term environmental change
- Sustainable cities and communities
- Understanding and effectively responding to forced displacement and multiple refugee crises
- Reducing conflict and promoting peace, justice and humanitarian action
- Reducing poverty and inequality, including gender inequalities.
For more information, please contact Heidi McCafferty, or secure your place now by registering at Eventbrite. A further event will take place in April.
