Attracting and retaining the very best talent is important for many ambitious SMEs. The Santander Universities Internship Programme is a great way to identify future talent, head up or assist with a project, bring fresh ideas to your business or fill a short-term skills gap. The Open University, in partnership with Santander, is offering funding to a limited number of SMEs in Northern Ireland who are interested in recruiting our students for short term internship opportunities.
The Santander Universities Internship Programme has been working with universities since 2007 and currently have agreements with 81 universities across the UK. The programme is open to organisations across all sectors with 250 employees or less and an annual turnover of £50 million or less.
Open University students are highly motivated, self-disciplined and have strong organisational skills. Our students are diverse and are likely to have a range of work and life experiences. They also bring the academic knowledge and skills from their specific subject areas including Business and Management, Computing and IT, Law, Mathematics and Statistics, Engineering, Design and Technology, Science, Environment and Development and Psychology.
Our students are keen to gain experience in the workplace and internships can bring a wealth of benefits to your organisation including an opportunity to publicise your business and pipeline for future recruitment needs, with Open University students offering the flexibility of combining full or part-time work for the duration of their studies.
