OpenLearn Create (previously OpenLearn Works) is an innovative leading open educational platform where individuals and organisations can publish their open content, open courses and resources. It is a Moodle platform (open software for e-learning) and has tools for collaboration, reuse and remixing, and supports Open Badges. OpenLearn Create is the sister site to OpenLearn where the OU hosts specially designed OU open content.
OpenLearn Create currently hosts over 450 live public courses, and 70 other resources (articles and other materials), many of which are part of one of over 40 public collections. Around 3.4 million visitors a year access OpenLearn Create, including 1.3 million from India.
Some OpenLearn Create courses require enrolment to fully participate (some have activity completion tracking, badges, statement of participation) while others are resources for download to use offline. In addition to public resources, there are a small number of private collections of closed courses (access via enrolment key) which are not listed in the public collections and free courses areas.
