Image: Sandringham House
Built for Albert Edward, Prince of Wales and Alexandra his wife, in 1870, Sandringham is a quintessential English country estate and a rare example of its type, lived in and beautifully maintained, complete with its original contents, gardens and dependent estate buildings, including the largest Victorian game larder in Europe.
It has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since then and the late Queen would spend several weeks there each winter.
We have booked a self-guided tour of the house with a multimedia guide. There will be time to explore the house and gardens, enjoy a spot of lunch and visit the gift shop.
There will also be an exhibition of watercolours painted by His Majesty the King inside Sandringham Ballroom, featuring scenes and landscapes from the Royal homes in Norfolk, Scotland and Windsor.
