Corona Days in Swansea

In this moving and lively conversation, in the Dari language, an Afghan couple, asylum-seekers living in Swansea, talk about their experiences of Covid Days. They talk especially about how Aisha (not her real name) got Covid very badly, was hospitalised, nearly died but recovered. They did not wish to show their faces or reveal their real names because their asylum claim is still under review but they wanted their story to be heard in the hope that sharing their experiences would show how difficult it can be to live far away from those you love without friends or family. Despite the hugely difficult circumstances in which they live, Swansea Asylum Seeker Support came to the rescue and put them in touch with a local food bank and this gave them great comfort at the most troubled time of their life. They talk with great vivacity, humour and openness and appreciated the visit from Shahsavar. They say they hope and pray that, after 18 months, the Home Office will release them of the agony of waiting for a decision. They thanked our project for documenting their situation and caring for them.
