Syrian family sharing experiences of Covid-19 (English) (audio 1)

COVID-19 has created a global crisis, and who of us has not heard of this? Now, the COVID-19 situation has kind of created some positive things and there were also some negative things. One of the positive things that came out of this lockdown has been the kind of this family atmosphere. It meant that people are you know, especially the families or living together as one family, the spending more time, you know, quality family time together. Parents got the opportunity to spend more time with kids, playing with them more, and teach them more. Another important thing that's been also very important, from a Syrian point of view, has also been that you know the level of destruction and killing has reduced in Syria, and also they've been lots of kind of you know the focus has changed kind of you know on more on conflict and war and people are more thinking about peace you know and and living together peacefully. Another aspect also a negative aspect has been that you know in many places, especially in these areas of conflict and instability, prices has soared, you know they sky-rocketed. You know families for instance we are not able to provide baby milk for their children, they are not able to buy nappies, and they cannot buy food due to you know the the the soaring prices and things become very very expensive and many people are not able to afford it due to lockdown and due to sanctions and siege. Another important thing that we realised during this lockdown has been that you know the taste of freedom. Well for some of us you know lucky who are you know probably spending some quality time at home, we have access sometimes to some you know entertainment TV and stuff, but we know for many of others you know it is not the case and overall we as humans we have been deprived from our very basic right of kind of you know going out freely, you know going shopping, just you know going out and meeting people and this reminds me of many other detainees, many of those who are you know detained in jail, without a trial and what means you know what we freedom means to to all of us. So these are some of the things that came to mind.
