STEM Futures: Lifelong Learning in the Digital Age

The 5th eSTEeM Annual Conference will take place at the Open University on the 14-15 April 2016.

The conference programme for day one is an exciting mix of short oral presentations, workshops and structured discussions showcasing work from colleagues in the STEM Faculty and wider university.

We are delighted to announce the following presenters on day one:

  • Opening Keynote Presentation: Andrew Smith, Senior Lecturer in Networking, Faculty of Mathematics, Computing and Technology - Our classroom has escaped!
  • Closing Keynote Presentation: Helen Beetham, Consultant in Higher Education - Supporting lifelong learners: resilience and care in a digital age

This year conference delegates will be invited to vote for the best poster. The winning poster will be announced at the end of the day on the 14th April during the closing keynote session. The winning author(s) will receive a book voucher, be featured on the eSTEeM website and announced on OU Life.

Day two will focus on the theme of haptics for education. This workshop will begin with a series of demonstrations/presentations and will be followed by a roundtable discussion in the afternoon.  We welcome external colleagues which include the following keynote presentations:

  • Keynote Presentations: Astrid Kappers, Vrije Universiteit - Haptic perception of shape and space and William Harwin, University of Reading - Haptic interfaces for learning skills and reinforcing spatial concepts
