eSTEeM Colloquium: Pictures to Help People Think and Act

You are invited to a one day Colloquium organised by eSTEeM.

The Colloquium will explore the role of pictures and diagrams in learning.

Keynotes from OU and external speakers will include:

  • Why diagrams are useful? What is special about them?
  • How people use Rich Pictures to help them think and act
  • Online use of diagrams to help people
  • Communities and diagrams


These will be accompanied by two 45 minute Workshops on:

  • How to draw meaningful Rich Pictures
  • Online assessment of diagrams using iCMA


And a plenary audience feedback session.

The Colloquium will offer the chance to:

  • Explore a powerful form of human communication
  • Understand how this medium has been used in various cultures and contexts
  • Evaluate how technologies can mediate picture drawing and
  • Gain first-hand experience of rich picture making processes


It has been arranged for the Colloquium’s papers to be published in the Journal: Systemic Practice and Action Research in a special edition in the summer of 2012.
