National HE STEM Programme Conference 2012

The conference will provide the opportunity for STEM practitioners (specifically those working in physics, chemistry, mathematics and engineering) to discover the latest developments in the learning and teaching of STEM courses, different approaches to widening participation and outreach activities, how to develop higher level skills in their student cohorts and work colleagues, as well as finding new ways to encourage uptake of these strategically important subjects. 

The conference will offer: 

• Inspiration- for further uptake and development of Programme activities across the HE STEM sector and their embedding within university practice, to act as a stimulus for future activity;

• Opportunity- to enable the (further) development of collaborations, learning communities and communities of practice; and professional development opportunities for the HE STEM sector through the interactive sharing of advice, guidance and information;

• Encouragement- to champion STEM education, policy and scholarly practices within the HE STEM disciplines through evidence informed publication.
