Overview

In this session, we will focus on how to successfully construct surveys as a method for carrying out research into STEM teaching and learning.  We will provide guidance on designing appropriate questions; the practicalities of employing them in an OU context; benefits and disadvantages and an introduction to analysing the data collected.

Learning objectives

After attending the session, participants will gain an understanding of:

  • How to design surveys
  • The benefits and disadvantages of surveys
  • How to analyse the data collected

Diane Butler is Associate Dean (Academic Excellence) and Director of eSTEeM.  She has an extensive background in scholarship of teaching and learning.
