Overview

In this session, we will consider the responsibilities of scholarship researchers to be ethical and to protect participant data. The Open University has approval procedures that help ensure that all research, including scholarship research, meets these obligations. Starting from a consideration of research design, we will guide you through the processes involved to help you gain the approvals that your project will need. The session will also be facilitated by colleagues from SRPP, HREC and Data Protection.

Learning objectives

To understand:

  • The responsibilities that project leads have towards participants in scholarship projects
  • The Student Research Project Panel (SRPP) application process
  • The Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) review process
  • The correct procedure for storing and handling data – Data Protection

Registration

This session is open to OU colleagues. Please visit My Learning Centre by Friday 5th July to register.
