How To Get Published

Saturday, March 11, 2023 - 10:00 to 16:30
Summerhall, Edinburgh, EH9 1PL
How to Get Published in partnership with the Open University

The Open University is delighted to be partnering with The Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook (Bloomsbury) to offer this full day conference, How to Get Published.

Are you a writer looking to develop your craft? Do you want to understand more about the publishing process from the people who know it best, such as editors and literary agents? This full-day event, held at Summerhall, Edinburgh, includes practical presentations and panel discussions featuring award-winning authors and publishing professionals.

The line-up includes keynote speaker, OU honorary graduate and award-winning author Louise Welsh (The Cutting Room, The Second Cut), and acclaimed novelists Kerry Hudson (Thirst, Lowborn) and Rachelle Atalla (The Pharmacist). The event has been purpose-built to provide a range of guidance on the writing craft as well as insight into the world of publishing, while our networking lunch gives you a unique opportunity to network with writing peers. The agenda for the day and further information about the speakers can be found on the Writers & Artists website.

A particular focus of this event is how to balance the use of personal experience and research in your writing, and we hope that the inspiration, information and writing advice on offer encourages attendees to return to their work-in-progress with renewed optimism.

Please note, this event is a rescheduled event following its postponement in October 2022 due to rail strike action in Scotland.
