Every day we are surrounded by mathematics and statistics, from the algorithms on our social media to the sat navs in our cars. Maths and stats can be used to look at problems and challenges in the world around us and help us to see how to address them, but they can be misused or misinterpreted if we do not understand what they are telling us.
We aim to encourage everyone to engage with maths and stats through a varied programme of public events throughout the UK and Ireland. You do not need to be a student at The Open University to participate in and benefit from these events.
We also provide academic support for the acclaimed BBC Radio 4 series More or less, which has received Statistical Excellence in Journalism Award from the Royal Statistical Society.
