At present, there are several students undertaking PhDs focused on Creative Writing who are supervised by members of the Group. For most this involves writing a novel as part of their thesis, but candidates can also write other genres such as poetry, short stories and scripts for stage or film.
Current PhD projects include novels set in 1960’s Ireland, 17th Century Scotland, 1950s London and modern day Lancashire and Yorkshire. There is a lively and supportive postgraduate writing and research culture at The Open University. Applications to study for a PhD focused on Creative Writing are warmly invited.
