We are pleased to announce round 1 of the International Visiting Fellowships. If you are working in a field related to the Centre's remit and you are interested in working alongside the our research team, please submit the application form by 5:00 pm on 30th November 2024 to protecting-women-online@open.ac.uk.
The aim of the Visiting Fellowship is to enable researchers to spend dedicated time at the Centre focusing on a research project and/or research and impact activities falling within the thematic remit of the Centre. Fellows will have an opportunity to co-create projects and outputs with academics based at the Centre as well as with Centre’s local, national and international partners (depending on the scope of research undertaken). Fellows will have an opportunity to present their research at a dedicated Centre event and to connect with Centre’s extensive networks.
For early career researchers, the Centre will offer the Fellow research mentorship and an assigned mentor for the duration of the Fellowship.
We welcome applications from researchers at all stages of their research career but also those based outside academia (e.g. in civil society organisations, research institutions, think tanks etc.). If you’re unsure which Fellowship scheme is most suitable for your circumstances, please get in touch with us via protecting-women-online@open.ac.uk and we would be happy to explore these options with you.
We expect Fellows to engage in academic and public engagement activities carried out at the Centre and to contribute to the Centre’s research culture. Fellows will be asked to contribute to a seminar/research event during the fellowship and to deliver agreed outputs arising from their fellowship.
The fellowships are offered on a residential and virtual basis – please indicate which scheme you are applying under [question 7 in the application form below].
The duration of the fellowship would be 12 months to allow for a full delivery of the outputs.
For residential fellowships, we will cover the Fellow’s travel and accommodation expenses for the duration of stay in the UK where these cannot be covered by the Fellow’s host institution. Residential fellowships can take a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks. Outputs can be produced after the duration of the residential visit. If you would like to apply for a shorter residential fellowship, please indicate so in your application, together with a brief explanation (this will not impact negatively on your application but is necessary for planning purposes). Round 1 fellowships will be offered from January 2025.
Please don't hesitate to contact the team at protecting-women-online@open.ac.uk, if you have any questions or would like to discuss other collaboration opportunities.
