10 November 2022
31 December 2022 marks the end of The OU’s Centre of International Development and Inclusive Innovation (IDII). For the last seven years, the Centre has collaborated with the International Development Office to develop the Institution’s research and teaching projects on international development.
In a recent interview, Director of the Centre, Professor Giles Mohan, highlighted “The SRA has done some great work and as Director I am continually surprised – in a good way – by the range and creativity of the research that colleagues are doing. The SRA’s success has been based on providing bespoke support for bids and helping OU academics to navigate an ever-changing funding landscape.”
Professor Mohan noted that he was “immensely proud” of the Centre’s achievements. He added: “Apart from supporting our academics to bring in around £20 million to the Institution, we have developed and maintained relationships with around 55 Global South partners spreading across 20 different countries.”
He also said he was looking forward to supporting the institution in its integration of international development into the Open Societal Challenges research programme, and working with other burgeoning umbrella international development and innovation units across FASS.
Internal Open University staff have been invited to join the IDII centre and other OU units on Tuesday 15th November to celebrate The Open University’s achievements in international development and inclusive innovation. In the meantime, we are pleased to share a series of short videos from academics at The Open University who received support from the Strategic Research Area in International Development and Inclusive Innovation.
