Abstract
In her presentation, Dr Ugochukwu will consider the film Man on Ground (2011), by the Nigerian-born South African director Akin Omotoso, and in particular study its reading of Nigerian immigration to South Africa. Her analysis suggests that, in spite of its originality, the film closely follows the Nollywood 'edutainment' model, of seeking, in this case, to warn would-be immigrants against the dangers waiting for them abroad.
