This video is part of a series of short animations produced by Library Services to introduce OU students to resources and services that will help you during your studies.
In this video an OU undergraduate student discovers a new way of using the online library to find information for his studies.
The video focuses on using collections of selected resources in particular subject areas as a place to start your research. For more information about resources for your subject area visit the online collections by subject page.
I needed to find information for my assignment, so I went to StudentHome to see if there was any guidance on good sources of information for my course, and I noticed a link to the OU Library. I clicked on it and found that there was already an easy way to look through selected online articles, ebooks and even websites in my subject area.
Because these had been picked out by the library I figured they were good quality and I could trust them. I even found an image I could use to illustrate one of my points. Finding the library subject pages saved me loads of time because I didn’t have to look anywhere else. I had been really worried that I wouldn’t know where to start looking. There were also easy-to-use how-to guides to help me understand how to use these resources more effectively.
Nice one!
