Why Reading is Like a Hug for Your Brain - 15:00

The beauty of the brain is that it has its own natural ways of making you happy, all you need is the knowledge and the tools to increase your body's own happy hormones.  Reading is one of those tools.  It can increase the levels of happy hormones and improve brain and memory function.  Reading also enhances connectivity in the brain, reduces stress, promotes relaxation, improves sleep, and has the potential to decrease the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's.  Think if reading as hugging your brain.  Join Sinead Eccles, from The School of Psychology & Counselling at The Open University for an interactive workshop that will reveal the power of reading for your overall brain health.
