New photographs celebrate 50 years of The Open University's groundbreaking teaching in Northern Ireland

The Open University is marking its 50th year anniversary this month by telling its remarkable story through the power of photographs, in a collection released today. Former and current OU students, including a Northern Irish builder who became a nurse after a life-changing accident, a prisoner turned academic, and a woman research pioneer in moon exploration, all feature in the new collection by world-famous British photographer Chris Floyd.

The Open University gains Fairtrade status in Northern Ireland

The Open University has been awarded “Fairtrade University” status in Northern Ireland by the Fairtrade Foundation in recognition of the continued promotion and use of Fairtrade certified products and its principles.

Retired politician Anna Lo was honoured by The Open University (OU) with the award of Doctor of the University at a ceremony in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall today (Friday 5 October 2018).

The Open University is rated top Northern Ireland university for student satisfaction

The Open University (OU) has again been rated the top university in Northern Ireland for student satisfaction in the latest National Student Survey (NSS). This makes it the fourteenth year in a row that the OU has topped the university student satisfaction table in Northern Ireland.
