The Open University’s Business Development Unit (BDU) was a key sponsor of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) 2019 Annual Conference, along with Vanrath Strategic Recruitment and nijobfinder. The BDU sponsored the skilled workstream session 'Developing future skills – reskilling people to be ready for the future'. The conference took place on 28 November, at the ICC in Belfast, with the theme centred around ethical practices and inclusive work environments. Approximately 300 delegates attended.

Dr Lynsey Quinn, our Business Development Manager, attended the conference on behalf of the BDU, along with study advisers, Rochelle Thompson and Emma Cope who were on hand to advise at The Open University exhibition stand. Rochelle and Emma highlighted a range of courses from our OpenLearn site in areas relating to leadership and career development skills and behaviours, including leading teams, influencing and effective coaching. Our relationship with the CIPD was also promoted through FutureLearn, our digital education platform.

Our participation in the conference was promoted on social media on the run up to the event including live coverage on the day. We also promoted a range of psychology and business and management courses, including our globally recognised, world leading Master of Business Administration.
