Gendered Harm and Structural Violence in the British Asylum System, by Victoria Canning
Based on ten years of research, this book argues that the process of seeking asylum in Britain is not only very difficult, but actually inflicts emotional, physical, and relational harm on those who go through it. Destitution and relentless uncertainty compound people’s experiences of loss or violence, and sanctuary itself often becomes another form of politicised persecution.
Tea, coffee and juice will be provided – snacks and alcoholic drinks available to purchase at the bar
Entry is free but by invitation only
