Dhouha Kbaier Spotlights COVID-19's Impact on Ethnic Minority Students at ICTLE 2023

Dhouha Kbaier, eSTEeM project leader and Senior Lecturer in the School of Computing and Communications at the Open University, took to the stage at the 7th International Conference on Teaching, Learning, and Education (ICTLE 2023) in Copenhagen, Denmark, from the 3rd - 5th November 2023.

Dhouha Kbaier presenting at ICTLE 2023Dhouha presented her research titled, Unmasking the Disparities: Investigating the Profound Effects of Covid-19 on Ethnic Minority Students - A Case Study at the Open University This presentation was one of the outcomes of her eSTEeM project titled Understanding the impact of COVID-19 on ethnic minority students’ study experience and awarding gap (A case study of Level 1 C&C Open University Modules) in collaboration with Soraya Kouadri Mostéfaoui from Computing and Communications and Annemarie Kane from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her presentation and the acclaim it received suggest that her research has made a significant impact and contribution to the conference, sparking engaging discussions and generating interest from the audience.

Findings from the project have been presented at two conferences, HETL 2023 and ICTLE 2023. A journal paper was accepted in the International Journal of Information and Education Technology (IJIET) in October 2023. Another journal paper submitted to the International Journal of Learning and Teaching (IJLT) in September 2023 is currently under review.
