We are delighted to announce the appointment of Diane Butler as Deputy Director of eSTEeM.
Diane joined the Open University in 1995 from a background in secondary schools and FE. She was appointed first as an Associate Lecturer tutoring at Masters level in science education and then as a Staff Tutor in the Faculty of Science(now STEM). Her main focus has been the delivery of interdisciplinary teaching and she has chaired several Level 1 science modules in production and presentation. She is currently a member of the production module team on S201 Science and Society.
Diane has a background in life sciences and she has also contributed to the curriculum above Level 1 in the field of cell biology. She has an MA in Open and Distance Learning from the OU and has served as a Teaching Fellow in COLMSCT (OU CETL). Her specific interests include student collaborative work, the challenges facing online learners and the efficacy of online synchronous tuition.
Diane is already engaged with the activities of eSTEeM as both a member of the Coordination Group and project leader, so is excellently placed in helping to develop and expand the work of eSTEeM both internally and externally.
