This project aims to improve student retention on U101, Design thinking. U101 is a gateway Level 1 design module and part of Q61 in Engineering and Innovation (E&I).
Retention on S217 (Physics: from classical to quantum) is a problem, with 30-40% of student withdrawing over the course of the module. Initial analysis of historic data (15J to 21J) shows that nearly half of the official withdrawals happen before Christmas (wk 10/11 of the module).

M348 (Applied Statistical Modelling) is a new module in applied statistics that will involve developing skills in the R software package via the use of Jupyter notebooks. It is a compulsory module for students on several qualifications and these students have a range of different backgrounds.
