The 6th Annual Colin Pillinger Memorial Event as part of Moon Night 2020

Dr Andy Spry worked with Colin Pilinger on the Beagle 2 Mars spacecraft. He was responsible for the lander being built to meet all the rules for ensuring that it did not contaminate Mars with Earthly microbes and that any positive results indicating signs of life on Mars were due solely to martian material. Following Beagle 2, Andy moved to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, leading planetary protection for a number of NASA robotic missions. He will be speaking from the SETI Institute where he is Senior Scientist and consultant to NASA HQ on planetary protection issues.
