The Open University is a special institution. Created over fifty years ago with a mission to make higher education available to everyone, from all backgrounds, that commitment to equality and social justice continues to inspire everything we do today.
The Open University is Scotland’s national widening access university, ensuring that people in every community in Scotland – regardless of age, work, family commitments, disability, income, location or previous qualifications – can achieve their educational potential.
We work together to give our students the greatest chance of success, whatever that might look like for them, and to make sure their experience studying with us is everything they need it to be.
Why should you want to work at the OU? Because you’ll be joining an organisation that enables you to help change peoples’ lives, improving not just students’ circumstances but those of their family and their community. You’ll be joining an organisation that supports its staff to do the best they can to support our students. Yes, we offer good holidays and benefits, but most of all we offer the chance to make a difference.

Working with us is a rewarding experience
I'm relatively new to the OU but I've felt welcomed and supported from the start, and now I'm helping our students to achieve.
