The World Famous A Play, A Pie and A Pint - Spring 2024

The Open University in Scotland is proud to sponsor 'A Play, A Pie and A Pint presents ROOST' by Laurie Motherwell at Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival 2024

A heartful play about pigeons, home and the power of hobbies, inspired by Glasgow’s doo-men.

When social worker Hana has to deliberate upon Bingo’s case for the custody of his daughter, his unusual hobby as a ‘doo-man’ catches her off guard. Through him, she is flung back into the world of pigeon keeping.

Bingo tries to use this shared experience to influence his case which Hana goes along with to stay connected to her father’s favourite past-time from her childhood. But Hana eventually realises she is in too deep and Bingo must choose between his daughter and beloved doos…

A Play, A Pie and A Pint is the wildly successful lunchtime theatre experience based at Òran Mór, Glasgow and touring throughout Scotland and beyond. ROOST will be performed over five days in three locations across Dumfries and Galloway, co-presented with Dumfries Galloway Arts Festival.
