The Open University in Scotland has achieved 92% for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2021 published today (Thursday 15 July 2021).

The OU is the UK’s largest university with students in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland. At a UK level, the National Student Survey placed the OU third in the overall UK rankings amongst 174 participating universities with a satisfaction rating of 88.24%.

A breakdown of ratings given by the OU’s students in Scotland shows that they rated their overall satisfaction of the university experience at an exceptional 92%, 2% up on 2020.

Susan Stewart, Director of the Open University in Scotland said:

“I am delighted by this fantastic feedback from our students which reflects the sustained high-quality learning, teaching and student experience you can expect from the OU’s supported distance learning model.

“I am very proud of the way we have continued to work hard across the university to make a positive difference for our students based in communities across Scotland especially during the Covid pandemic. We will keep working closely with our students to act on what they have told us; and we will build on the good work so far to help further improve the overall experience for our current and future learners.”

The last year has also been a record for the OU in Scotland in terms of actual student numbers. The total number of all students for 2020/21 is up 20% on last year to over 21,000 (including undergraduates, postgraduates, and apprenticeships, but excluding degrees validated with partner providers).
