Be part of a Happy Birthday display touring Scotland

2019 is the Open University’s 50th anniversary year. Whether you’re a current student, graduate, past or present member of staff, or a friend or supporter of the OU, you can help us celebrate the 50th anniversary of the OU in Scotland.

By sharing what the OU means to you, there’s a chance to be included in a ‘Happy 50th Birthday OU in Scotland’ exhibition, which will be displayed on our website and at events across Scotland and beyond, including at the Scottish Parliament.

How to take part:

Write a Tweet, Facebook or LinkedIn post of up 280 characters which says what the OU means to you, where you live (or where your organisation is based), a photo of you if you like, and the hashtag #OU50Scot.

As an example, a tweet might say something like: ‘I got a promotion thanks to my degree from @OUScotland! Anne in Glasgow #OU50Scot’

The sooner you post a message, the more likely it can be included it in our printed graphic. We look forward to reading your story!

You can follow us on Twitter at @OUScotland, on Facebook at @OpenUniversityinScotland, or on LinkedIn

The small print
  • The copies of the posts displayed will be screengrabs of the full posts, including the username of the person who posted the message.
  • Copies of posts placed by 12:00 noon on Tuesday 16 April 2019 are likely to be included in both the printed and online versions of the display. If you miss that date, please post or tweet anyway! We would love to read your story, and you can still be included in a version on our website.
  • Posts containing offensive content, such as inappropriate language or indecent images, will not be included in the display.
  • This opportunity is available via social media only; entries can only be submitted by Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn.
  • If you participate, we might contact you by direct message to invite you to share your thoughts on the OU in further ways.
  • The OU’s 50th anniversary events will be posted on the OU’s dedicated 50th micro-site.
