A number of our undergraduate and postgraduate courses include elements of medieval and early modern studies along with other subject-areas. Some modules have taster materials online: follow this link and explore by module level.
We welcome enquiries about MPhil/PhD projects concerning the medieval and early modern periods. Individuals interested in studying for a research degree can receive supervision from one or more members of the group. A list of current research students can be found here.
The Open University is a member of the Open-Oxford-Cambridge AHRC Doctoral Partnership, which brings together the OU, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge in providing funding and high-quality training to doctoral students in the arts and humanities.
The application period for all research degrees (funded and unfunded) is from mid-October to the second week in January. We normally ask potential applicants to submit a draft research proposal along the lines indicated in the Research Degrees prospectus. This draft will enable us to assess your topic and approach, provide you with some feedback, and to consider whether we have the specialist staff to form a supervisory team prior to any formal application.
For further information about the research group or to find out more about studying with us, please complete our online form or sign up to our email list.
We aim to reply to all enquiries within a week.
