Undergraduate studies

The OU has over 200 qualifications at both undergraduate and postgraduate level to choose from. All of these modules are delivered by our world leading distance learning methods, which allow you to fit your studies in and around your existing personal and professional commitments.

Access curriculum

We have a specially designed Access curriculum to support students who are new to higher education, or returning to study after a considerable break in their studies, and we offer a range of payment methods and Government supported schemes that can help you to meet the costs of your learning.

Short courses

If you’re looking for professional development and aren’t concerned about studying for academic credit or qualification, we also offer a range of short courses. They are presented online and can be studied at your own pace, covering a range of topics from science to business, management to health and social care.  Find out more here.

Professional programmes

We are proud to offer a number of professional programmes that are particularly relevant for a variety of public sector workers from healthcare support workers to teaching assistants. Delivered in partnership with a range of employers we offer a qualifying social work programme and a pre-registration nursing programme, both of which utilise workplace learning arrangements to ensure your study is relevant and your new skills and understanding can be immediately applied to your working practice.

Research degrees

We also offer a range of research degrees that can be studied on both a full- or part-time basis. Currently we have over 900 research students studying with us on topics ranging from astronomy to health and social care. Our research is recognised and renowned throughout the world. It engages with some of the major issues facing the world today; informs public opinion and policy, and promotes debate and engagement with questions of global importance.
