Saskia

I am a Research Fellow in the Department of Environment, Earth and Ecosystems at the Open University. My main research interests are the monitoring of active volcanoes and understanding volcanic processes by using a variety of techniques in a complementary manner. In combination with this, I have a strong interest in the impact that active volcanism has on the surrounding population, from both health and environmental perspectives, particularly in developing countries. In conjunction with this I am interested in approaches to communicate Earth Science research results and the associated hazards and risk mitigation strategies effectively to the general public in an appealing manner.
