Willow Neal (They/Them), a postgraduate researcher and Associate Lecturer at The Open University in the school of Earth, Environmental and Ecosystem Sciences wrote for Climate Perspectives magazine’s Summer 2024 edition.
Climate Perspectives the thought leadership-only magazine addresses all things climate change for people whose role is to deliver change and make improvements in an organisation, or who are driven by societal change.
In the article Willow discusses Butterflies as indicators of our impacts on nature, and explains the importance of their role as a bio-indicator species.
The article also encourages the upskilling and reskilling of land managers to focus on regenerative practices. These include the removal and prevention of sources of pollution, the creation of sustainable urban drainage and habitat management plans informed by science with a focus on conservation to preserve wildlife.
