In a remarkable display of community spirit and dedication, the OU CAN campaign has not only made a significant impact on our local communities but also set a Guinness World Record. The OU Can campaign, which began in August, united our teams across all four nations, resulting in the collection of over 1,000 cans for local food banks.
Our OU volunteers braved the chilly Monday morning weather, heading to Campbell Park with one mission in mind: to stack, count, and pack thousands of cans of food into an epic line that would stretch for a jaw-dropping 10 kilometres, snaking its way around the park. The final tally? A staggering 102,447 cans!
But that's just the beginning of this story of teamwork. In Milton Keynes (MK), something truly extraordinary unfolded as we joined the MK Food Bank and other numerous businesses, schools, churches, faith groups, community organisations, and charities on a mission to create the longest line of food cans the world has ever seen!
But the achievements didn't stop there. Thanks to the generosity of the general public, an additional 11,000 cans were funded, boosting the food bank's stocks to unprecedented levels. Not only did we clinch the Guinness World Record title for the longest line of food cans, but we also accomplished something even bigger.
The MK Food Bank now stands equipped with enough food to sustain local families in need for the next six months. It's not just a world record; it's a testament to the power of community, compassion, and collective effort.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to every OU team member who contributed to this incredible achievement. Your dedication and generosity have made a tangible difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity in our communities.
The OU CAN campaign exemplifies our commitment to making a positive impact, not only in our workplace but also in the broader community. It's a reminder that each of us has the power to make a difference, and when we unite, we can achieve the extraordinary!
