Walton Hall's catering team achieves Bronze certification

The catering team at our Walton Hall campus has achieved the Food for Life Served Here Bronze certification from the Soil Association, for serving food that is good for our climate, nature and health.

Sustainability has been at the heart of catering ethos, a journey started several years ago, with the award seen as another key milestone in the journey. The catering team's commitment to home cooking, ensuring ingredients are responsibly and ethically sourced, menus use seasonal and local ingredients, and forging relationships with like-minded suppliers were all part of the work undertaken to meet the awards criteria.

Students, staff, and visitors can be reassured that the food on the menu in Food for Life Served Here certified universities is cooked fresh and made from ingredients that are good for our climate, nature and health.

Milton Keynes campus has one main food outlet, The Hub, where Mondays, all lunch entrees served are plant based.

Dorian Holloway, Director of Estates, said:

"We are delighted that the efforts of all those colleagues who provide our catering services have been recognised with this well-deserved Food for Life award. The award is a great reflection of all the hard work of both OU and Baxterstorey colleagues in providing a sustainable food service for our students, staff, and visitors. It is also a fantastic step forward on our journey to net zero."
