The Welsh Language

The Welsh Language Standards ensure individuals in Wales can access services in Welsh when they get in touch with public bodies and organisations including The Open University.

The OU has long adopted the principle that in the conduct of public business in Wales, we treat the English and Welsh languages on a basis of equality. We see the Welsh Language Standards as an opportunity to build on this and we are committed to achieving compliance and to continue to deliver quality services through the medium of Welsh.

Assessment through the Medium of Welsh

The Open University offers Welsh medium assessment, (including written assignments, examinations, projects and theses in all subject areas) to its students and provides assessment in accordance with the student’s linguistic preference.
