CPRL has launched a new format of research seminars under the brand ‘CPRL Collaborative’ that are open to academics and our police force members. 

Operation Soteria Pillar 3 is looking to pilot a Victim Impact Assessment (RVIA) tool devolped for Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) with police forces.

The Open University Business and Law Schools are inviting applicants to join their PhD programme beginning 1 October 2024.

Have you experienced violence or abuse from a partner or family member?  Did the case go ahead without your support or without you giving evidence?

We want to hear from women and men in England and Wales who are over 18 and whose case was taken forward without their support or evidence, ideally in the last 2 years, regardless of whether the perpetrator was convicted.

OU/BBC Series 'The Met' Returns for a fourth series

A captivating fourth series of The Met, co-produced by The Open University (OU) and the BBC, is set to air on BBC One tonight (Tuesday 24 October) at 9pm.

The six-episode series provides insight into the Metropolitan Police in the face of complex cases and during a challenging period for the force.

Dr Shoshana Gander-Zaucker recently joined the policing team here at the OU as a Research Associate. We have asked Shana to write a small piece about herself and the work she will be doing at the Centre.

On the 14 October, our first 29 Police Constable Degree Apprentices from North Yorkshire Police, graduated at The Convention Centre in Harrogate.

Elke Loeffler, Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships, is leading a panel on prevention approaches at the upcoming IRSPM conference. The panel is looking to showcase a number of papers co-authored by practitioners and OU academics.

CPRL vice-chair and PhD student Chief Superintendent Phil Davies is being published in the forthcoming text ‘A Research Handbook on Public Management and Covid-19’ developed through a collaboration with the University of Melbourne and the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG).

The Centre for Policing Research and learning has secured another year’s funding (£600k) to continue work, alongside Police, to improve the way rape and sexual offences are investigated.
