Ten-years of Policing at the OU

2024 marks 10 years of Policing at the OU, including the launch of the Centre for Policing Research and Learning.

To celebrate the many achievements in research, partnership, learning, education and knowledge into practice, CPRL are having an exciting schedule of online and in- person events throughout the year.

The CPRL Collaborative programme includes online and on campus events related to CPRL priority research areas. The 2024 dates and details of each monthly seminar are included on the events page and will be updated throughout the year.

The Ten-Year celebration concludes with the CPRL Tenth Anniversary Conference 2024: How can we improve retention and prevention in policing?

The two-day event will be held on our campus at Milton Keynes on 13th and 14th November 2024, bringing together police officers, practitioners and academics to focus on 'Retention and Prevention' which are very topical areas of policing at the current time. The event will also include the annual Steven Chase memorial lecture being given this year by Professor Jean Hartley who stepped down last year as Academic Director of the Centre.

We will be publishing a more detailed programme to members over the coming weeks but please hold this date in the diary.
