We are committed to widening access to learning and we support this by offering a range of free learning resources. OpenLearn is a free learning resource website and has had 58 million visits since its launch in 2006. We joined iTunesU in June 2008 and there have been 73 million downloads since then.
More free open online courses are available with FutureLearn founded by the OU, and with partnerships with universities and cultural institutions across the UK and the world. FutureLearn will increase the global reach of our courses and thereby widen access to high quality university education.
The OU has had a partnership with the BBC for over 40 years and co-produces around 25 TV and radio series a year with the BBC. Recent examples include: Blue Planet 1 & 2, Civilisations, The Fifteen Billion Pound Railway, The Prosecutors, NHS:A People's History, Inside Science, All in the Mind, More or Less, Thinking Allowed and The Bottom Line.
