Learn how to access library databases, take advantage of the functionality they offer, and devise a proper search technique.
Our retired staff can use certain resources and databases. Due to licensing conditions, we cannot give you access to all items in the OU Library. You can use a selection of full-text journals, electronic books, abstracts and indexes, and other databases.
Please do not use Library Search to look for resources. You will not be able to access everything you see there. Instead, use the A-Z list below. This will show you all the resources that are available to you. You must register with the Retired Staff Association to access these resources. Your login is set up automatically when you register. Details of how to register are available on the Registration for Retired Staff Association website.
Please remember that photocopying print material, and printing or downloading online material is governed by copyright. Library resources must only be used for private study and research. They must not be used for any commercial purpose. You will be asked to electronically sign a copyright declaration form when you use each database. If you are in any doubt, please contact the Library Helpdesk.
We have a range of resources to help you develop your information skills:
We value your feedback on these pages and the resources available. If you have problems accessing resources, please contact the Library Helpdesk.
