“My world has changed since the pandemic. When the Dutch government imposed a lock down in March, some of my employers told me not to come until the situation was back to normal. The first 3 weeks were the most challenging.
“I weep as I watch our camp burns down. I feel like the whole world have abandoned us – this was supposed to be an opportunity for people to help us during this pandemic but it seems like it is not the case.
“While staying at home during Covid-19, I had to find different activities for my children day after day. They were not attending school and were so bored always being at home.
“Several refugees were taken to hospital after they were brutally beaten by police. They were demanding improvements for the camp situation. The hygiene is next to none and people are desperate.
This family kept chickens during lockdown to give their children something to do and look after. Chicks were born. Eggs were hacthed. Vegetables were also grown. Food art landed on the table.
