Small Icy Bodies Chambers

Photo of "Bob" - Small Desktop Chamber

The Small Icy Bodies Chamber is designed tosimulate conditions on icy bodies, like Europa, Ganymede andEnceladus.

Description

The Small Icy Bodies Chamber, measuring 14 cm diameter and15 cm tall, has an integrated cryogenic cooling system capableof simulating conditions on icy bodies such as Europa,Ganymede and Enceladus. The ~5 L chamber canaccommodate five viewports (two angled downward, twohorizontal and one vertical) which allow for sample observationsand spectral data collection. The two horizontally opposedviewports allow for low temperature sample transmission measurement, while the vertical viewport may beused for UV solar simulator illumination.
