Professor Mark Brandon awarded MBE

Professor of Polar Oceanography, Mark Brandon has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year 2021 Honours for services to Polar Science.

Mark said he owes this award to the OU, giving him the opportunities to conduct his research and be involved with exemplary outreach projects.

Vote Now Closed: Vote for the OU in ‘Fertilise the Future’ shortlist

The OU's Floodplain Meadows Partnership is in the running to secure up to £180,000 of funding in Ecover's Fertilise the Future challenge and we need the help of the OU family to win!

Fertilise the Future provides grants for innovative green research and projects that can make a real difference to our planet. After making the shortlist, our Floodplain Meadows project is now going head to head with other eco-pioneers in a 'People's Choice' vote on social media.

In an initiative supported by EEES and the British Ecological Society, the first horizon scan of teaching and learning in ecology has been conducted. 

The outcomes of this work have been accepted for publication in Oikos.
