Access to content the Library does not hold

The Library has several options for researchers who wish to access content the Library does not hold.

Submitting an inter-library loan request for books

The Library can request to borrow books from other libraries. This service is dependent on loan availability and loan periods will vary as they are set by the lending library.

Submitting a document delivery request for articles

In the first instance, please use Library Search to check whether we have an item in stock before ordering it via the Document delivery service

Suggest a new title service: book purchasing requests

If you need a book the Library does not hold and cannot be obtained by inter-library loan, a book request can be made by completing the online 'Suggest New Titles' form on the Library website. The Library's policy is to purchase electronic copies where they are available as this allows maximum use for all Library users. If you require a print copy, please state this in the additional information field.

Purchases of new titles will be dependent upon availablity and costs. If the book you require is crucial for your research degree, it is recommended you request the Library purchases a copy as soon as possible.

Requesting access to new journal titles

If you need access to a journal title that is not available via Library Search, please contact the Library Research Support Team with the details, including the journal title and publisher. Research Support will then liaise with the appropriate Library teams to obtain costs and determine if it can be purchased. For single articles and access to an issue of a journal, please use the Document delivery service.
