Following the retirement last week of Louise Casella, the OU in Wales has appointed David Price as the new Interim Director. 

On Monday 22 May, outgoing Open University (OU) in Wales director Louise Casella delivered a keynote speech at a special event to discuss the future of higher education in Wales. 

Graduate Bethany Turner has talked about securing a position, after taking part in an employability programme.

Helen was encouraged by two work colleagues to study with the OU.

Beck Collett graduated with a Master’s in Creative Writing, after also studying for her undergraduate degree with the OU. She lives with multiple sclerosis (MS), a condition which affects around 5,600 people in Wales.

Louise Casella, Director of The Open University in Wales, has announced that she will step down from her role, and retire in June 2023.

Staff at The Open University in Wales recently traded in their keyboards and headsets for spades and hammers and headed over to Adamsdown to take part in a tree planting initiative, Coed Caerdydd.

Tomos Brogden graduated from the Open University in Wales in Summer 2022 with a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics. After struggling to access relevant work experience due to the pandemic, the GROW programme helped him kickstart his career.

‘The COVID pandemic left me without any indication as to how to approach attaining work experience in the industries I wanted to pursue,’ said Tomos. ‘It made building a network in those sectors a tough task, especially while simultaneously undertaking my studies and preparing for examinations.’
