The British Library blog Untold Lives provides fascinating and unusual insights into the past and brings out from the shadows lives that have been overlooked or forgotten.
Project partner the British Library also launched Untold Lives, a blog sharing stories from the British Library’s collections about people from across the world. It aims to inspire new research and encourage enjoyment, knowledge and understanding of the British Library and its collections. Stories posted so far have shared little known facts about Napoleon, Sir Hans Sloane, East India Company warehouse labourers in London, kidnapped African princes, a homicidal bookbinder, Indian soldiers in World War I and Indian suffragette Sophia Duleep Singh. The project team continues to contribute to the blog: read our latest blog.
Public engagement activities, including seminars, school workshops and lectures, have been central to Beyond the Frame. In the UK, the project team has produced dynamic interactive online resources for the British Library’s award-winning ‘Timelines’ website and a linked ‘Asians in Britain’ learning website.
