This is ideal if you've little or no coaching experience and want to use coaching to develop people, ensure wellbeing and enable performance.

People, work and society Access module

This access course covers a broad range of subject areas, including children and young people; health; law; management; psychology; and social science to prepare you for a range of qualifications. You’ll study four themes: Individuals; Families and relationships; Organisations and communities; and Society. It will also gently introduce you to computing and online learning; and essential study skills needed for higher education.

Death and dying

This is a revolutionary module in which you’ll engage with real issues based on the experiences of dying people, bereaved people, those who work with them, and their careers, both lay and professional.  This module will be of interest for anyone who works with dying people and their families or students who want to find out more about death, dying and bereavement, and what these mean in different contexts.

Critical ideas in wellbeing and public health

Imagine a world in which everyone feels safe, valued for who they are and is able to participate with confidence in society in a way which supports their health and wellbeing. What would such a society’s health and social care system look like? What would need to be put in place for staff and service users to achieve this world? These are the fundamental questions this module will address.

Living psychology: from the everyday to the extraordinary

In this module you will learn how psychologists have studied both practical and theoretical issues, such as nationalism or sexuality, with a particular emphasis on understanding and solving problems that directly affect people’s lives. You will also develop your understanding of psychological research methods, along with other useful academic and employability skills.

Mental health and community

This module examines how aspects of the external environment (e.g., social, environmental, economic and political factors) shape and constrain our understandings and experiences of mental health and distress. It explores the theories and concepts that underpin and challenge mental health practice and service provision and looks at the impact of the frequently competing perspectives that characterise the world of mental health.

Studying this module will help you get to grips with three important areas which affect us all - health and wellbeing, mental health and ageing and later life. You’ll be introduced to some of the key concepts, theories and debates and explore a rich mixture of real-life case studies, audio-visual material and academic texts, all developed by experts drawing on cutting-edge research.
